2 cup sugar
4 sticks of butter (1 lb)
4 cups flour
1 tsp almond extract
1 egg white
Cream the butter and sugar together and add the almond extract. Mix in the flour a little at a time until thoroughly mixed. Spread the dough out on an ungreased cookie sheet so it is about 1/2" thick. Beat the egg white and brush on top of the dough.
Bake at 350F until the top is slightly browned (about 20-25 minutes). Cool and cut into 2" squares.
